Giving back to the community
Hosting an event such as the Tropical Journeys Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival calls for a huge number of volunteers to donate their time, not just on the day of the event but in the days prior also. The team at Port Douglas Event Management are profoundly aware of the hard work that groups of volunteers give each and every year to ensure that the annual event is a success.
Each year and allocation is made in the budget to provide funds for sporting groups, clubs and charities for their assistance in helping host the event. This way both the event and the group benefit with the clubs providing volunteers in return for financial support.
In 2016 the Tropical Journeys Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival will be assisted by the following groups:
- Port Douglas Outriggers
- Papilion Landscapes Volunteer Group
- KIND (Kids in Need of Donation)
- Port Douglas Netball Club
- Port Douglas Fire Brigade Social Club
- Mossman Meteors Swimming Club
There are also a large number of individual volunteers who come out each and every year to support us and for this we are eternally grateful.
If you or your club are seeking to assist in any way, we require a minimum of 10 volunteers in return for financial assistance. Please contact Sarah for more information.
If you would like to be involved in the Tropical Journeys Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival but don't want to participate in an event, let us know! The more hands on deck the better the event, please contact Sarah for more information.
